If you are on this pill and taking more than the doctor prescribed and hiding it from your friends and loved ones, you have a drug addiction and you need help. Don’t let your loss of sleep be what makes you want to take your life. As soon as you quit taking it, within 12 hrs it is out of your system. You do return to normal. There are other meds you can take to sleep that don’t have depression as a side effect. It makes me so sad to read all the stories here of people who want to commit suicide. It is all because of this drug. It was meant to be a short term drug so if you’ve been taking it for years and you don’t feel like your old self, please get off this medication. It can save your life like it did mine.

It seems like I do/can do things without fully realizing it which seems to be in alignment with the stories above. Mind you, I started on only 10mg and after a week, I cut down to 5mg and this depression/anxiety/general weirdness came on SO FAST and unexpectedly. I’ve only been on this for about 2 weeks and it is a disaster.If you are someone who CAN take this med and you don’t get depressed, you are VERY lucky. I just think that if you have ANY signs of depression, you shouldn’t take this. It can take you down a very dark road quickly.

The coroner said it appeared as if he were trying to get into bed by the way his body was positioned in relation to the bed.In his system they found alcohol, which is no surprise. They also found a high level of Ambien and Klonopin. The medical examiner ruled his death as undetermined because it was not clear whether his death was intentional or accidental.My brohter always said people who commit suicide are cowards . He had started school to better his life, he lived for his children, and would never leave my mother. He loved life, he was just a happy guy.In my opinion it was the Ambien that messed with his thinking, caused him to become irrational and agitated. I am now going to get a copy of his medical records and see how many prescriptions of Ambien he was given in an attempt to piece this all together.This should never have happened, and it angers me that with so many people suffering such horrible effects from this drug that someone doesn’t look into it further before more lives are lost.I am sorry to hear about everyone who has lost someone, the pain is unbearable. These deaths could have been prevented if only someone would step up to the plate and admit to the real dangers of this drug.
Hi, 2 weeks ago I overdosed on pakinillers after taking 2 ambien in order to sleep. I was distraught afte a fight with my boyfriend, sounds silly but as anyone that has suffered a terrible breakup knows, I wanted to die, even thought about taking pills and going to sleep. However, I was not about to take my life, I think the term is ideation. Wanting just to sleep and think more clearly in the morning I took 2 ambien but I wasn’t yet in bed. The last thing I remember was taking those pills when I finally awoke many hours later I found cough syrup bottles, vitamins, candy warppers, and a nearly empty contianer of codeine by my bed. I think about 14-16 pills were missing. I was sick for days. But more upsetting was that I should have died from this amount of medication and everyone would have believed it was an intentional suicide. It was not, I vaguely remember dreaming about the medications but that’s what i thought it was a dream! I saw evidence of other activity, moved items, opened packages, even a few text messages I don’t recall sending. Please know that on Ambien it is possible to hurt yourself withhout intention. I suffer from depression and have considered suicide but I will not act on it, at least not consciously.

My doctor prescribed this medicine for me because he knows I am not going to abuse it. Ambien has helped me get a restful night of sleep with zero side effects.
